My Background with Spanish

Spanish has been the love of my life since I was 15 years old when I translated the word hot dog (incorrectly, but effectively!) and saw how language builds a bridge between people.

I have studied Spanish since 2004 and I majored in Spanish at the University of Tennessee (go Vols!). I studied at the Universidad Pública de Navarra in Pamplona, Spain for a school year and have traveled extensively in Latin America.

Learning Spanish as a native English speaker, and then working as a translator both eventually shaped the way I teach Spanish. I use those perspectives to help my students fully understand the parts of Spanish that aren't intuitive for English speakers.

For more than 15 years, I have used Spanish while working for attorneys, business and medical professionals. I also work as an interpreter for criminal defense attorneys in the Nashville, TN area.
